Allyce Bailey's Resignation Letter
June 17, 2015
South Carolina Women Lawyers Association
P.O. Box 11910
Columbia, SC 29211
Dear Board Members,
Undesirably, I must resign from my position as Executive Director of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association as I have accepted an associate position with Turner Padget. My last official day as Executive Director will be Wednesday, July 1.
I struggled to find the words to draft this letter. My position as Executive Director has grown to be more than just a job, but a passion. On top of having a job that allowed me to do so many things that I enjoyed, I was fortunate enough to watch SCWLA live out its mission. SCWLA's mission states that, "SCWLA will, through advocacy, action and association, take positive steps to ensure that women lawyers achieve their fair share of opportunities and
benefits available to those in the legal profession." Whether granting me the latitude to maintain my position while serving as a judicial law clerk or encouraging me to take advantage of an associate position, this organization has played an integral part in my trajectory as a young lawyer here in South Carolina. I cannot stress enough how grateful I am that SCWLA took a chance on the young, fresh out of law school, eager beaver from the bayou. I was blessed to have had the opportunity to serve as SCWLA's first Executive Director and hope that my performance was satisfactory during my tenure.
I plan to remain actively involved so that I can give back all that SCWLA has given to me even in such a short time hopefully leaving the ladder down for female lawyers that will follow me. Thank you so much for the opportunity to serve SCWLA and to build what I hope will continue to be lasting professional and personal relationships.
