SCWLA SCOTUS Admissions Trip

Supreme Court PhotoThe 2019 Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) group admissions ceremony for the South Carolina Women Lawyers’ Association will take place on Monday, December 16. A member of South Carolina’s judiciary will join us and move in open court for the admission of our group to the Court’s Bar. We have arranged for up to 50 of its members to have this once in a lifetime opportunity.

To participate, please complete the group event application below. That application and $100 SCWLA Administrative Fee (covers administrative costs, reception on Sunday night, and a private breakfast at the Supreme Court) are different from and in addition to the Court’s Application for Admission to Practice fee of $200. The SCWLA Event Application and SCWLA event fee are due by October 1 (to ensure inclusion on some group tours that have advance security requirements submit by May 15). The SCOTUS’s Admission Application and the $200 application fee must be received by SCWLA no later than October 1. Applications will be accepted in the order in which they are received until the group is full (limit of only 50 lawyers may be admitted, but there is no limit on total travelers).

Because of the limited number of members who may be admitted on December 16, all persons interested in applying should contact Amie Clifford ([email protected] or 803-760-3072) before submitting applications. Members already admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States are invited to participate in the trip by completing only the Event Application and submitting it, with the $100.00 SCWLA Administrative Fee, by the deadlines set out above.

SCWLA has arranged for a special rate at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capital Hill. Further information about the hotel can be found on the event application form.
