SCWLA’s rescheduled “Taking Care of Business” conference on March 18th will include a silent auction to benefit the SCWLA Foundation, which sponsors the Martha Dicus Award for Public Interest Law, law student scholarships and hopes to use YOUR contributions to do more to promote public interest law in South Carolina.

This year’s auction will be hosted on-line, so ALL SCWLA members and not just conference attendees can join the fun and help us “take care of business” by raising more money for the Foundation! Click here to view the SCWLA Foundation Auction.

The auction already includes some great items, but we need your help to collect more. Popular items from past auctions include:

• vacation homes rentals
• artwork (original paintings and framed prints)
• vintage, designer, and fine jewelry
• signed books
• sports tickets
• vintage and designer leather goods (i.e., shoes and purses)
• wine
• sterling silver flatware and serving pieces
• crystal and glassware
• gift certificates; and
• giftware.

Think outside the box!  You probably have unused or forgotten treasures that would make great silent auction items.  Let the SCWLA Foundation be the beneficiary of your decluttering.  We encourage donations across all price points, so everyone can have fun bidding and winning.

We also encourage you to contact businesses to solicit donations – store certificates (for merchandise or services) or actual merchandise (stationery, purses, shoes, jewelry, clothing, etc.).  This is easier than you might imagine as the SCWLA  membership is a target demographic for many businesses. Click here for a sample donation solicitation form.

Once you have identified an auction item, please complete the SCWLA Foundation’s "Gift in Kind Form" The completed form should be returned as soon as possible so we can upload the items to the online auction site.
