SCWLA Mentoring Program Information
SCWLA is proud to announce the creation of the SCWLA Mentoring Program! SCWLA members across the state interested in being a safe space, lending their war stories, unique perspectives, answers to sensitive questions, and legal expertise to students and young lawyers are welcome to serve as mentors. CLICK HERE to fill out the form indicating that you are willing to serve as a SCWLA Mentor. Mentoring is on your time and at your convenience! You can choose to meet with the mentee in person if they are local to your area or virtually. There is no specific number of sessions. We are simply wanting to assist in making connections.
No one is asking for a perfect role model, but we are all REAL MODELS of the courage, tenacity, and grit it takes to be a woman lawyer, and that is all you need to be prepared to share. However, here are some Sample Discussion Topics to break the ice.
SCWLA will compile a list of all SCWLA members interested in serving as mentors, to include your practice areas and location. As we receive applications from interested mentees, we will contact you to see if you have the capacity to take on a mentee. If not, no pressure! We will move on to the next potential mentor on the list to find the mentee a suitable fit.
Interested mentees can be high school or college students interested in the law, current law students seeking to begin making connections in the bar, or current young lawyers needing a deeper connection to a mentor. Interested mentees should CLICK HERE to apply to be matched to a mentor.
It is our hope that through this new initiative we continue to leave the ladder down and inspire the next generation of amazing women lawyers!
